Background
In 2025–26 the Careerpilot Team of qualified careers advisers, based at the University of Bath, was contracted by the Swindon & Wiltshire Careers Hub to design and deliver three lessons to small groups of Year 10 students who would benefit from additional support to:
- understand the benefits of work experience
- explore the skills they have to offer and their placement options
- feel more ready to engage with their school’s work experience programme
- feel more able to complete a block work experience placement.
In 2026–27 the Swindon & Wiltshire Careers Hub is contracting with Careerpilot to develop the online resources and lessons so they can be delivered directly by teachers within their schools.
The sessions can be aligned with each school’s work experience process and delivered over three to six weeks. The sessions also support the CEC Equalex process and the achievement of Equalex student outcomes.
