Hosting and connection
Since October 2026, Next Steps Ready has been hosted on Cloudflare, a major international web infrastructure company. Every page is sent over HTTPS with a trusted security certificate, so what you see cannot be read or changed on its way to your device.
The site is made of simple web pages. There is no database and nothing to log in to. Cloudflare’s network also helps protect the site against attacks, such as attempts to overload it.
What information we collect
None. There are no sign-up forms, and nothing students type on the site is sent to us or saved by us.
- The Job Quiz and Skills Profile work inside the student’s own browser. Their answers are not sent anywhere, and they are gone when the page is closed.
- Students write their answers in the work experience workbook, a Word file they save in their own school area – not on this site.
Cookies and tracking
We do not set any cookies, and we do not use analytics, advertising or social media trackers.
To show text in our chosen fonts, each page loads them from Google Fonts. As with any website, your device’s internet address is shared with Google when it does this. If a school blocks Google Fonts, the site still works using a standard font.
Other services some pages use
- Find a College or University: the postcode a student types is sent to postcodes.io, a free UK postcode service, to find nearby colleges. We do not store it.
- One video, on the Climate Change page, plays from Vimeo in ‘do not track’ mode.
- Links to other websites, such as the National Careers Service, GOV.UK, UCAS and Google Maps, open in a new tab. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
- The student survey for the Work Experience programme is run on Jisc Online Surveys by the University of Bath. It is only for students taking part in the programme.
Downloads
The workbook, email template and CV template are standard Word (.docx) files. They contain no macros and no links to outside content.
For school IT teams
Please whitelist nextstepsready.org.uk by its web address, not an IP address, as the hosting address can change. The site needs JavaScript switched on. These other addresses are used in the lessons:

The site moved to new hosting in October 2026. If it was blocked or flagged by your filter before then, please review it again, as the old warning was most likely linked to the previous hosting.
