Why study Biology?

Biology is the science of life – covering humans, plants, micro-organisms and the environment. You’ll explore genetics, evolution, ecosystems and how living things work, and build an understanding of big scientific issues facing society today, like global warming.

Through Biology you’ll build skills in investigation, analysing information, using data and general scientific method – skills that are useful in a huge range of jobs, not just science ones.

It combines well with other sciences such as Chemistry, Maths, Psychology and Geography, and is seen by many universities as a subject that keeps lots of future options open. It can lead to careers in areas like energy and the environment, animals and agriculture, and scientific, pharmaceutical and medical research.
